   A ladder made of aluminium tubes and steel cable is suspended in the courtyard of the castle, hanging seemingly mid-air and reaching nowhere. The ladder is conceived as a metaphorical object: a tool that can help us reach other places, a carrier of potential. It can be interpreted as a sculptural expression of the subjunctive (dt. Konjunktiv). In language, the subjunctive is generally associated with describing something other than the apparent reality. In the attempt to make it spatially tangible, the object encourages reflection on the potentials of narrative. The subjunctive functions not only as a linguistic tool, but as a way of thinking – it opens perspectives on what could be, on the unspoken and the possible.
